WHAT MAKES HIM AN AWESOME TUTOR

I've TA'd a university theory of computing course, so I've explained the same concept five different ways in one hour and enjoyed it:) I don't move on until students can explain it back to me - I am committed! I also have experience getting topics wrong myself before I got them right, so I usually know exactly where someone is stuck before they do!

FUN FACTS

Life goal: Build technology people actually use, mostly in AR and quantum computing, and take it from research paper to shipped product. Side goal: road trip across every continent in the world!

Words to Live By: "No such thing as bad students, only bad teacher." Mr. Han, The Karate Kid (2010). It's basically my whole tutoring philosophy. If a student isn't getting it, that's my problem to solve, not theirs!

Favorite Mathematical Weapon:
Mental math. I run the arithmetic in my head before anyone finds the calculator:)

GET TO KNOW MINHAJ

Education: Final year Honours Bachelor of Computer Science at Algoma University, Brampton campus, graduating December 2026. Research work in mixed reality, HCI, and quantum computing.

Fave Tech device: My VR headset. It's my entire office when I remote into my laptop, and a doorway into any reality I want the moment I'm done working.

Fave Book: The 39 Clues. Hunting down clues across the world with the Cahill family got me reading as a kid, and I still think a good math problem feels the same way: one clue at a time until the whole thing clicks!

Fave Song: "Die With A Smile" by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. My Spotify wrapped is going to be embarrassing and I've made peace with it:)

Fave Outfit: A well-fitted button-down with the sleeves rolled, dark denim, and clean white sneakers. Smart enough to be taken seriously, comfortable enough to sit through a three-hour session!

Fave TV Show: One Piece. Over a thousand episodes deep and still going, which tells you everything about my relationship with long-term commitment. Also the best argument I know for why persistence beats talent.

Fave Movie: The Karate Kid (2010) and Interstellar. One taught me how to teach, the other convinced me physics was worth the headache.

When you're not crunching numbers: 3D printing things nobody asked for, running a couple of startups, road trips with no fixed plan, and watching gold charts more than is healthy.

What’s the best thing about you? I'm very hard to discourage. If something doesn't work, I'll just try it in every imaginable way because I believe there are infinite possibilities and in one of them, I made it work.

NERD ALERT!

I talk to Claude more than most people I know. It's helped me draft papers, debug code at 3 a.m., and once talked me out of a genuinely bad idea!
