Wait…flatten WHAT curve?!
The last few weeks I have been freaking out about how, in a math-anxious society, the secret to understanding the spread of COVID and the importance of physical distancing is ... MATH?! Like honestly, I'm a (self-described) math therapist and even I have been confused at times exactly what curve needs to be f*cking flattened. In this episode I break down some of the key math-related COVID issues I've been thinking about, and hopefully this gives you a bit of clarity or perhaps some help when arguing with your math-anxious and conspiracy-theory-loving friends about why physical distancing works and will save lives :)
SHOW NOTES
The CDC is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a great source with a ton of reliable, peer-reviewed resources!
My fave website for stats and COVID-related numbers when it comes to stats per country is this one! Their chart is my favourite and they add new columns when new information comes out. For example, they just added a column stating how many people have been tested in each country, which is really useful!
The flu and COVID are different in so many ways! The World Health Organization has a lot of info about this, check out the Q & A here!
