what makes her an awesome tutor
I am completely sympathetic to the woes of learning math, and the avoidance and anxiety that come from feeling lost in the topic. That’s why, in addition to teaching math in a way that suits each student’s unique way of learning, I work with students to develop positivity and confidence in their approach to math. More than this, I strongly believe that learning how to learn is an essential skill for mastering any topic. As such, I also help students build on their general ‘student skills’ so that they become more effective and engaged learners in any educational context.
Life Goal: To have a life well lived. For me that means enjoying and appreciating each day, experiencing new things, pursing meaningful work, and forging strong relationships with wonderful people (and cats).
Words to Live By: “Gratitude can transform common days in to thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” – William Arthur Ward
Favourite Mathematical Weapon: Approaching math with a positive attitude is often just what people need to develop the openness, creativity, and endurance they need to learn new concepts and solve tricky problems. Good music and taking a step back for fresh perspective can really help too!

When you're not crunching numbers: I spend my spare time with friends and family, staying active (most often with yoga, walking, cycling, or tennis), and pursing hobbies like photography, sewing, reading, and piano.
What's the best thing about you? I don’t care if I’m half a world away dangling over an active volcano trying to diffuse a bomb: if my friends or family need me, I’m there for them. Well, maybe I’d diffuse the bomb first, but you know what I mean!
Okay, confession time. I have way too many cat pictures on my phone, on any given day I can probably recite for you the hourly weather forecast, and I have a soft spot for fantasy novels.
