what makes her an awesome tutor
I genuinely love math, and learning. I may not have realized this at a young age, but upon reflection I know my life has always revolved around both. This translates to a positive attitude when working with students, because I want so badly for everyone to have the opportunity to understand and experience the things I love. On the flip side, I've felt extreme frustration with math, and been too shy to ask for help. I've also spent so much time trying to figure things out on my own that I ran out of time to ask for help. Because of my own experiences, I have a personal investment in math education. My goal when tutoring is to increase confidence, and build healthy learning habits in students.
Life Goal: To always be learning.
Words to Live By: Make friends with struggle. It can be emotionally difficult to try at something and not succeed, but getting caught up in your failures can make it even harder to push through. Just take a step back, and allow yourself to continue learning with a clear head.
Favourite Mathematical Weapon: Write down everything you know. This is the best tool if you can't remember how to do something, or can't quite figure out what a question is asking. Just write down all the basic information you do know from the question, and try to draw a connection.
